After becoming the supreme ruler of Italy in 1922 Musilini spent years consolodating power within Italy and building up the Italian economy. However, he always had dreams of restoring Italy to a major power, the likes of the Holy Roman Empire. In the 1930's he set his sights on Ethiopia and Italy quickly overpowered the Abyssinian forces. Thanks to their vastly superior airpower Italian forces plowed through to the Capital where Emperor Halie Selassie was forced to flee. Ethiopia was then declared a part of Italian East Africa.
